News

Welcome to the first Hunter Cargo & Customs newsletter.

We would like to keep you aware of internal changes as well as provide links to points of interest associated with international trade and transportation

Change in Share Holding

Late last year Mike decided to cut back on his workload, and allow the other customs brokers to perform the day to day customs clearances. This will allow him to now concentrate on improving the internal efficiencies of customs and forwarding departments, as well as his golf swing

Craig McGrath has now a significant shareholding. We believe that with an association with a locally owned trucking company, such as McGrath Newcastle, our service levels will be strengthened. With their recent move into their new facility we can offer extensive warehousing (and soon to be) quarantine related activities

Phil Wardman has also secured a small package of shares

David Brown is now a licensed Customs Broker

David recently passed his Customs and Quarantine exams and we congratulate him on becoming a licensed customs broker and a valuable member of our team. It is some 4 years since he knocked on our door and his dedication and hard work have paid dividends

 Ashanthi Kruger

Congratulations to Ash (our export manager) and Wayne on their recent marriage and we wish them a long and happy life together. I am sure we will all agree that her new surname is a lot easier to get our tongue around

Jodi Schneider

Jodi now takes up the new role of domestic transport co-ordinator. With the significant growth in our business over the last few years we feel it is imperative to have this critical part of our service as a separate entity.

Jodi will ensure that your cargo is effectively controlled and will be in regular contact to ensure, not only effective delivery, but also seeking your input as to how we can improve our service

Increase on Import and Export port charges

Please note effective from 1st July 2009 all import Seafreight shipment arriving into Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Fremantle will be subject to increase on destination port charges.

The increase amount will depends on the individual shipping line. Please find the attached notices from more information.

Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service

The Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) has reviewed the acceptance of Packing Declarations and minimum documentation requirements which must be presented to support risk assessment of imported cargo, whether for quarantine or imported foods purposes, all imported shipments.

AQIS has adopted a new policy to ensure a consistent approach to assessing documentation presented to AQIS. This new policy will be introduced from the 1st of August 2009 and all shipments entering Australia on or after this day must meet the new conditions.

Failure to comply with these conditions will see consignments either ordered for an approved treatment, re-export or destruction.

Please find the attached links from more information.
